My Life in Images – Week 11

This last weekend final saw me getting back into the water to go Scuba Diving, first time in almost 12 months. I love going along and assisting on courses and being able to be apart of people experiencing what it is like to be able to breath underwater, or to explore the under water further and learn some new skills. It is just so rewarding to be able to pass this on.

For my adventure on the weekend, part of what I was required to do was to assist on a night dive. This freaked me out a little. The last time I went diving was back in 1997 when I completed my own Advance Scuba Diving Course and here I was having to take some guys night diving on their advanced course. Pushing through the little niggling fears, and WOW what had I been missing out on. We had a fantastic dive. So many fish and sea life out enjoying the night water. The dive went far too quickly, could have staying there for ages just exploring the sea life in between the rocks.

Unfortunately my camera doesn’t have an underwater housing so I don’t have any images from our dives. Thanks for a great weekend Brisbane Dive Academy xo

A Little Bit Excited

This morning I woke up to some exciting news!!!!!!!

Recently I entered my first ever photography awards the International Loupe Awards. I didn’t know much about the awards and it was in fact the first time I had heard about the awards. What I did know was that my images would be judged by a panel of 15 judges and I would be given an average score. What I also knew was that there were some very high profile photographers, so of whom I follow and whose work I love.

So taking a deep breath I decided to put my work out there and I entered these 2 images, 1 in the Portrait category and 1 in the Landscape category.

My Portrait image, was one I took a while ago that I have called “My Little Ballerina”. I absolutely love this image and was interest in whether others would too. Yesterday I got the news that I had scored a 73 – not award winning but not a bad score and only 2 marks off a bronze award. I was pretty happy with this :)

This morning I got the news of my landscape Image. Some of you might remember this image as it is one I recently took down at Kangaroo Point Cliffs. I am so excited to share with you all that I scored an average of 78 which is very much a bronze award (insert happy dance)

So here is my Award Winning Image “Brisbane City at Night”

My Life in Images – Week 10

For the last 4 weeks I have been participating in a fantastic online Photography Workshop run through Eye Candy. Sheye and Fran were truly amazing and the time and effort that they both put into making sure that everyone got the most out of the workshop was amazing. A huge thank you to them both for an awesome month and to all the wonderful people I met on the journey, so looking forward to continuing our friendship.

For our final week project we had to come up with a feature image that we would put on our website. I spent the week thinking about what I would like to portray. So Miss E and Miss C and I headed down the road near our house to a lovely bush setting with some balloons and ribbons for some fun in the woods. We had so much fun and I just love the images ♥♥♥

My Life in Images – Week 9

What a fantastic weekend. Miss C had her final Ballet Eisteddfod for the year up at Caboolture, so we headed up the coast for her performances very early on Saturday morning. The girls from Pure Dance and Performance Academy did so well scoring a second place and a highly commended. And it was so special to have Daddy come along to watch.

We then continued up the coast to Coolum. Unfortunately is was a very overcast but this didn’t stop us. The girls had lots of fun playing at the park even in the rain. The place that we stayed at was gorgeous Coolum Seaside. Just outside our room was a 20mtr Lap pool and spa. It was so nice to just relax in the spa while watching the kids. And then to roll out of bed to enjoy an early morning swim. Can’t wait for the next weekend away xo

My Life in Images – Week 8

I’m just loving this warmer weather. On Sunday we headed for the beach – our first beach trip in months.

My hubby is the owner of Brisbane Dive Academy, (feel like learning to dive give Mick a call) and as such it often means that he needs to work on the weekend :( . To overcome this though, sometimes us girls tag along, help out and go and play while the divers are off exploring under the water. Sunday’s was one of those days.

So glad we tagged along with the guys as what an awesome time we had!!! Both girls had big smiles on their faces the whole time and neither wanted to leave. They swam, the built sand castles, played with some dogs that were down there, made some new friends and then swam some more. As you can imagine, 2 very tired girls that evening.

So here’s what my world was like this week…

14th October – MT Annual Bowls Day – Theme this year “Cartoons” – Remember good old “Popeye the Sailor Man”
